フィンランド出身、日本人好みのメロディと超絶技巧のギタープレイを武器に、日本で爆発的な人気を博したメロディック・パワー・メタル・バンド。

1989年、アルバム『FRIGHT NIGHT』でデビュー。1994年には3rdアルバム『DREAMSPACE』をリリースし、6月に初来日公演を実現させた。バンド・サウンドをさらに強固なものにすべく、専任シンガーのティモ・コティペルトを迎えたバンドは、4thアルバム『FOURTH DIMENSION』を1995年2月にリリース。同年8月には再来日公演を行う。

その後、ドイツ屈指のドラマーであるヨルグ・マイケルと、スウェーデン出身の天才キーボード奏者イェンス・ヨハンソンが加入。このラインナップによる通算5作目『EPISODE』は1996年4月にリリースされ、6作目のレコーディングを一時中断して行われた3度目の来日公演も成功させた。続いて、6作目『VISIONS』（1997年）をリリース。この頃には、彼らの人気は地元フィンランドや日本のみならず、ヨーロッパ全域、南米にまで拡大した。

2008年にはティモ・トルキがバンドを脱退。新たにマティアス・クピアイネン（Gt.）が加入する。2022年には16作目となる7年ぶりのアルバム『SURVIVE』をリリースし、翌2023年には「LOUD PARK」で来日公演を実施。そして2026年、「FULL METAL」にて3年ぶりの日本公演を行う。

Hailing from Finland, this melodic power metal band took Japan by storm with their signature blend of unforgettable melodies and virtuoso-level guitar work.

They made their debut in 1989 with FRIGHT NIGHT. In 1994, they released their third album DREAMSPACE, followed by their first-ever Japan tour in June of the same year. To further strengthen their sound, the band recruited dedicated vocalist Timo Kotipelto, and released their fourth album FOURTH DIMENSION in February 1995, returning to Japan again that August.

Soon after, renowned German drummer Jörg Michael and Swedish keyboard virtuoso Jens Johansson joined the lineup. Their fifth album EPISODE was released in April 1996, and despite pausing work on their sixth album, the band successfully completed their third Japan tour. This was followed by the release of VISIONS in 1997, by which point their popularity had expanded far beyond Finland and Japan, reaching across Europe and South America.

In 2008, Timo Tolkki departed the band, and guitarist Matias Kupiainen joined the lineup. In 2022, they released their 16th studio album Survive, their first in seven years, and returned to Japan in 2023 for LOUD PARK.

And in 2026, they return once again—performing in Japan for the first time in three years at FULL METAL.
